Thursday, October 26, 2006

MASON, Ohio (AP) -- Four high school girls were suspended Wednesday, the day after they were taken to a hospital after overdosing on over-the-counter drugs.
They are suspended for 10 days, and will face a hearing for possible expulsion, said Tracey Carson, spokeswoman for Mason Schools in this Warren County city about 20 miles north of Cincinnati.
The girls complained to school authorities Tuesday that they were suffering heart palpitations after taking excessive amounts of cold medicines, authorities said. They were treated then released at a hospital.
The suspensions came during Mason Schools' anti-drug, Red Ribbon week.
