Jobless rate in Ohiodrops to 5.3%
COLUMBUS -- Ohio's unemployment rate was 5.3 percent in September, down from 5.7 percent in August, the state said Tuesday.
The national unemployment rate for September was 4.6 percent, down from the August rate of 4.7 percent.
"The decline in unemployment was due primarily to individuals leaving the labor force and returning to school in September," said Barbara Riley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties all reported jobless rates of 5.7 percent in September.

Toyota on trackto outsize GM
TOKYO -- Toyota Motor Corp.'s global production rose 3.8 percent in September, putting the company on track to overtake General Motors as the world's biggest automaker. It was the company's 23rd consecutive monthly advance.
Surging oil prices have prompted drivers to favor fuel-efficient cars, including the Prius hybrid, Corolla compact and the midsize Camry, the best-selling model on the U.S. market for eight of the last nine years. Toyota's total output last month came to 696,594 vehicles, the company reported Tuesday. Overseas production climbed 2.8 percent to 340,945 units, while domestic output rose 4.7 percent to 355,649 vehicles.

Toyota is recalling30,000 Scion tCs
WASHINGTON -- Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it was recalling about 30,000 Scion tC sports coupes over concerns that the side air bags could inadvertently deploy if the door is slammed forcefully.
The recall affects about 20 percent of the tCs produced during the 2005 and 2006 model years, Toyota said. The vehicle is sold only in the United States.
The automaker said seat-mounted side air bags and side curtain air bags could deploy if the door on that side of the vehicle is closed forcefully while the ignition is on or within 90 seconds of when the ignition is turned off.
