The theft suspect led police to the stolen money, a police report said.
AUSTINTOWN -- Township police arrested two brothers from Warren after a theft at an office building at 5208 Mahoning Ave., a police report said.
Antonio Torres II, 18, of Linden Drive, was charged with obstructing official business and complicity to theft, and his brother, Del-Shawn Torres, 17, also of Linden Drive, was charged with theft. Antonio Torres was to appear in county court here today at 9 a.m. There was no mention in the police report or court records of an appearance date for Del-Shawn Torres. He was turned over to Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center at the request of his probation officer, who told police he would be held for the theft charge.
A 15-year-old brother who was in Austintown with them when the theft occurred about 2 p.m. Monday was not charged.
What happened
An employee at Cement Masons told police she was at her desk when she turned and saw a man leaving through her office door. He was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt with the hood up. She turned back to her desk and noticed that a bank bag with $90 in it was missing.
She called police, who were told by another witness that a man matching the suspect's description ran across Mahoning Avenue to the Get Go gas station.
Police spotted the suspect running through yards behind the Get Go and eventually caught him behind some shrubs at a home on Marcia Drive.
He was ordered out at gunpoint. The man then took police to another Marcia Drive house, where they recovered the money and the missing money bag. He was identified as Del-Shawn Torres, the report said.
Meanwhile, police saw another man walking west from the driveway of the office building where the theft occurred. He was identified as Antonio Torres, police said. They detained him for questioning.
15-year-old found
Police asked Del-Shawn Torres who he was with, and he said a younger brother, but no one else. Police found Torres' 15-year-old brother on Mahoning Avenue at Dehoff Drive. He told them he was in the township selling candy with his two brothers.
Del-Shawn Torres told police that his brother Antonio saw the money on the desk and told him to grab it.
Antonio Torres and the 15-year-old were released to their mother, the report said.
