Howland's boys advanced to a district semifinal at home on Monday.
STRUTHERS -- Vickie Dreiling and Katie Griswold scored two goals apiece in leading the Mooney High girls soccer team to an 8-0 victory over Girard in a Division II sectional championship game Thursday at the Valley Sports Complex.
Ahley Cuba, Mimi Vitello, Dina Pelly and Mary Agnes Vinopal each scored a goal. Cuba had two assists, while Brianne Donoghue, Griswold, Vitello and Dreiling each had one.
Ashley Esposito had 10 saves and Mellisa Weitzman had four in goal for Mooney.
Lakeview 5, Conneaut 0
CORTLAND -- Carly Chordas and Nikki Bevilacqua each scored two goals for the Bulldogs in a Div. II sectional game at Lakeview. Jen Baker added the other goal.
Alli Nero and Paige Poulis had an assist apiece for the Bulldogs (15-1-2). Hallie Ruggeri had one save.
Kelsey Graner, keeper, had seven saves for Conneaut.
Warren JFK 1, Springfield 0
WARREN -- In a game of defensive plays by both teams, a goal by Mel Esposito of the Eagles in the 20th minute of the first half was the difference.
Jacqee Lombardi had 12 saves for Warren JFK, while Courtney Pauline had 15 for the Tigers.
N. Allegheny 2, Howland 1
WEXFORD, Pa. -- Alexa Williams scored the only goal for Howland (12-2-3) in a game Wednesday night. Megan Long was credited with an assist.
Maura Romano and Kylie Fuller scored for North Allegheny (13-5-2), while Leigh Cullen had a pair of assists.
JVs: North Allegheny, 3-0
Boys
HOWLAND -- Senior Ian Jones scored twice and assisted on Sean Gerin's tally, as Howland defeated Canton GlenOak, 3-1, in a Div. I game.
Paul Burley had six saves for the Tigers, who play host to a district semifinal Monday.
GlenOak's goal was scored by Tyler Lotzenheimer. Andrew Crawford had four saves.
