Tickets on sale for local classic
This year's production will have the largest cast in the show's 18-year history.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tickets are now on sale for what has become a holiday family tradition for many area theatergoers.
Easy Street Productions' annual Christmas spectacular "Miracle on Easy Street" returns to Powers Auditorium Dec. 15-17 for four shows.
For the past 18 years, Easy Street's "Miracle" has grown in popularity as well as scale.
When originally staged at the Uptown Theatre in 1989, the cast consisted of eight performers, and the theater had a seating capacity of 275. Last year's extravaganza featured more than 100 singers, dancers and "Little Rascals," and some performances topped 2,000 in attendance.
The show has changed over the years. Unlike other holiday offerings, "Miracle" is constantly evolving. Last year, Easy Street added nine new song and dance routines to the production.
But although there have been many changes over the years, some aspects of the show have remained the same. Easy Street co-founders Maureen Collins and Todd Hancock will once again host the event with vocalists James McClellan, David Jendre, Illa Willis, Colleen Crish, Katy Collins and Candace Campana. Musical director Jeff Sanders will also return with the Easy Street Little Big Band blending a mixture of the season's most popular tunes both old and new.
The 2006 production will boast the largest cast yet with 60 "Little Rascals" and more than 50 dancers from studios all across the Mahoning Valley. Choreography by Renee Rogers will feature a wide variety of styles including tap, jazz and hip hop.
Show times
A Saturday matinee has been added to this year's run. Show times are 8 p.m. Dec. 15; 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dec. 16; and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17.
Tickets prices are $25 for adults, $20 seniors/students and $12 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the Easy Street Box Office, 865 Mahoning Avenue, or charged by phone at (330) 743-8555.
