Cooperation results in suspended sentence

WARREN — Amy Corll, one of three women who said she drove around with Jermaine McKinney the night he killed two women in a Newton Township home, was given a suspended jail sentence and probation on the three felony convictions that arose from her involvement that night.

Corll, 31, of Hubbard, pleaded guilty in January to complicity to receiving stolen property, attempted theft from an elderly person and identity fraud from an elderly person.

Corll was sentenced to three years and nine months, all suspended, on the charges. David Toepfer, assistant county prosecutor, told Judge Stuard that Corll had cooperated completely during the investigation.

Getting Corll’s name shortly after the murder of Wanda Rollyson, 70, and her daughter, Rebecca Cliburn, 45, Dec. 21 was a big break for investigators on the case and led them to two other female accomplices and McKinney, who was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without parole for the murders.

Investigators got Corll’s name from a message on Rollyson’s answering machine that said Western Union had denied a request to transfer $2,500 to Corll from Rollyson’s bank account on the night of the murders.
