Democratic researcher to speak

YOUNGSTOWN -- Mark Mellman, a leading Democratic public opinion researcher and strategist, will speak in the Mahoning Valley next week.
Mellman, president and chief executive officer of the Mellman Group of Washington, D.C., will speak at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, on "The Impact of the New Congress on American Jewry."
He will also speak at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Ohio Room of Youngstown State University's Kilcawley Center on "The 2006 Midterms: How the Democrats Won the Congress."
Both programs are free and open to the public. The programs are sponsored by Youngstown State University's Judaic and Holocaust Studies Program in conjunction with the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation and YSU's Political Science Department.
The Mellman Group is a polling and consulting firm whose clients include the Democratic leaders of the U.S. House and the Senate. The firm helped the successful campaigns of 16 U.S. senators, more than two dozen House members, four governors, and several state and local officials.
Mellman's corporate clients include the Washington Wizards basketball team, Janus Mutual Funds and United Airlines.
