Crestview edges Beaver Local; Champion opens with a victory
NEW WATERFORD -- The Crestview High girls basketball team, behind each of Tuesday's first three quarters, rallied 15-8 in the final eight minutes to post a 49-48 victory over Beaver Local .
It was the second straight win for the Rebels, while the Beavers fell (1-1).
Chelsea Bowker sparked the Rebel attack with 23 points and she grabbed 14 rebounds. Elyse Mongillo added 14 points and she had five assists.
Mallory Yajko led the Beavers with 22 points and eight rebounds. Mary Weber had 15 points and five assists.
Champion 45, Warren Harding 39
CHAMPION -- The Golden Flashes, in their season opener, came from behind with a 18-8 surge in the fourth quarter to prevail.
Elizabeth Ghinda led Champion with 24 points and 12 rebounds and Ashley Haas added 13 points.
Tempest Simmons and Kamela Bender paced the Raiders (0-1) with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Liberty 43, Niles 31
NILES -- Michelle Dykes had 18 points and 12 rebounds while her sister, Melissa Dykes, contributed 15 points to lead Liberty (1-1) on Monday.
Nina Gabrelcik had seven points and Hannah Newbrough six to lead Niles (0-1).
