Council to considerzoning change for B & amp;B
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Council is expected to decide Dec. 7 on a zoning change that could allow a proposed bed and breakfast. Henry J. Marrangoni has asked to change the zoning of two lots on the North Hill from residential to local commercial. He is looking to use the house at Lincoln Avenue and Mercer Street for business meetings, seminars and conferences as well as wedding rehearsal dinners, holiday parties and bridal showers. He said the 5,000-square-foot house would accommodate gatherings of up to 50 people. Earlier this year the Lawrence County Planning Commission said the proposed change does not meet zoning ordinance requirements because the document doesn't allow for bed and breakfasts in the city. Rather, the commission determined the proposal fits the definition of a hotel or motel.
