CANTON-- Zach Collaros passed for 293 yards and six touchdowns to lead Steubenville to a 48-13 victory over Aurora in a Division III state semifinal on Saturday night.
Collaros, who was 11-of-14, found Maurice Bougard three times on scoring passes of 53, 39 and 67 yards.
Steubenville (14-0), which won its 29th consecutive game, will face Kettering Alter in Massillon next weekend to try for its second straight state championship.
Aurora (12-2) scored on its first possession when Wes Miller, who completed nine of 22 passes for 72 yards, found Mike Snyder for a 6-yard score, but Steubenville led 28-7 at the half.
Aurora's Alex Welch ran for a 3-yard touchdown in the fourth.
Division I
MASSILLON -- Bill Dietman scored on a short pass from Bart Tanski with 33 seconds remaining to lift Mentor to an 18-13 victory over Canton McKinley and a spot in next week's big-school championship.
Mentor (13-1) meets Hilliard Davidson for the title. The win was Mentor's 10th in a row and its first in a playoff semifinal.
Tanski's pass capped a 72-yard, 11-play drive against the Bulldogs (12-2) that took 1:45 off the clock. The Bulldogs out-gained the Cardinals 349 yards to 308, but two turnovers and turning the ball over on downs once at the 1-yard line were costly.
The Bulldogs entered with 28 scoring plays of 30 yards or longer, including 15 by senior tailback Morgan Williams. But their longest gains were pass plays of 29 and 24 yards, with the latter ending in a fumble. Williams' longest run was 23 yards on his third carry, before he hurt his ankle. Over the final three quarters, Williams never gained more than 7 yards on a run.
Division III
DUBLIN -- Kettering Alter scored on its first two possessions and returned a blocked punt for a touchdown en route to a 31-7 victory over New Albany in a Division III state semifinal.
The Knights (14-0) will play Steubenville in the championship game Saturday after the win over New Albany (9-4).
Alter took the opening kickoff and drove 56 yards for a 31-yard field goal by Paul Sobecki. The Knights scored again when Tony Boyle blocked a punt by Alex Emrich, then picked up the ball at the 20-yard line and ran into the end zone untouched.
Quarterback Steve O'Donnell scored on runs of 1 yard in the second quarter and 6 yards in the third to give Alter a 24-0 lead.
Division I
DAYTON -- Bo Delande scored on a 4-yard run in the third quarter to help Hilliard Davidson to a 10-6 win over Cincinnati Colerain in a Division I state semifinal.
Quarterback Connor Dietz passed to Joey Ciamacco for a two-point conversion, and Davidson (14-0) also scored on a safety in the first half. Davidson's Colby Catlett kicked an 82-yard punt that rolled all the way to Colerain's 1-yard line, and Drew Dolder tackled Doug Reynolds in the end zone on the next play.
Davidson will face Mentor (13-1) in the state championship game next weekend in Canton.
Colerain (13-1) scored on field goals of 22 and 24 yards by Mark Tabar.
