Red Cross' Mahoning chapter seeks volunteers

BOARDMAN -- The Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for a few dedicated people to join its Armed Forces Emergency Service volunteer base.
A training course is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 6 at the chapter building, 8392 Tod Ave., off McClurg Road. The training is free to those interested in becoming volunteers or for current volunteers looking for another area of service.
The Red Cross sends communications on behalf of family members who are facing emergencies or other important life events to members of the Armed Forces serving all over the world. These communications are delivered round-the-clock, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The Mahoning Chapter's personnel will train volunteers, who can take calls from their homes. After two hours of training, volunteers will be able to properly and efficiently help not only the Red Cross but service men and women around the world.
