Local artists' works now at mall

NILES — A new gallery at Eastwood Mall will showcase and sell the works of local artists.

The gallery is an effort to reach new audiences through public art exhibitions. It is located in the former Casual Corners storefront, along the concourse between Macy’s and JC Penney’s, and is being provided through the support of the mall, the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County and Warren Junior Women’s League/GFWC.

Because of the size of the space, the gallery’s first exhibition will be divided into three sections — professional artists, Trumbull County elementary through high school artists, and Youngstown State University artists. The exhibit features works of three generations of students of teachers and teachers of students.

The exhibition will run through Jan. 15. A youth reception is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 20.

The artist will receive 100 percent of the proceeds of anything sold.
