Control board awards 2 contracts

The company and Mahoning County are contributing to the project.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The city's board of control awarded a contract to provide better access to the Ohio Works Business Park and another to renovate part of city hall.
The board awarded a 1.78 million contract to A.P. O'Horo of Liberty to reconstruct about 2,000 feet of Division Street Extension. The North Side street near Brier Hill has poor drainage and is too narrow, city officials said.
The realignment is to provide better access to the Ohio Works Business Park and to V & amp;M Star. The change will better facilitate vehicle traffic to and from the business park, which is owned by the city, and to V & amp;M.
Contributions
The company is contributing 434,269 toward the project, which includes parking area improvements. Mahoning County will kick in 35,743 for work on a county-owned bridge over the street.
The board, consisting of Mayor Jay Williams, Finance Director David Bozanich, and Law Director Iris Guglucello, awarded the contracts at its meeting Wednesday. The mayor was absent.
The board also approved a contract with York-Mechanical Contractors of the city for 53,700 in work to the first floor of city hall.
The work, expected to begin in two to three weeks and take about two months to finish, includes mechanical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning upgrades.
It's part of about 280,000 in improvements -- about half for the mayor's office remodeling -- planned for the building's first floor.
