South Range honored for sports
NORTH LIMA -- The South Range Board of Education passed a resolution Monday honoring the district's students and staff for significant fall sports achievements.
The resolution, recognizing district athletes, cheerleaders, band, flag line, coaches and advisers, was read by schools Superintendent Dennis Dunham.
The high school football team, which had an undefeated regular season, was the first Inter-Tri County League Division I Football champion. The team also finished the regular season as the Associated Press Division V poll champions, the first in school history. Additionally, the team played in the Regional Final Championship Games in the Ohio School Athletic Association Football Tournament.
The school board also recognized Kayla Witmer, a member of the South Range High School Cross Country Team. She advanced to the Ohio School Athletic Association State Cross Tournament. Witmer placed 17th in the Division III Tournament and was honored as an All-Ohio Academic member for the 2006-07 cross country season.
Ariel Witmer, a member of the South Range High School Golf Team, advanced to the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Golf Tournament and placed sixth in the Division III Tournament. She also achieved the best performance of any South Range High School golf team member in the school district's history.
