Harding coach resigns


WARREN — Thom McDaniels, head football coach at Warren G. Harding High's head football coach since 2000, has resigned, effective Dec. 21.

Warren's school board accepted his resignation at tonight's meeting. McDaniels submitted it Monday, stating, “I submit this resignation with pride in what has been accomplished during my tenure at Warren City Schools and immeasurable appreciation for the opportunity given me by the administration and the Board of Education. It is my hope that Warren City Schools received as much as they gave.”

McDaniels had a 62-21 record in seven season with the Raiders, leading them to five playoff appearances. The team lost to Mentor 34-24 last Friday in the Division I regional finals.

Dr. Kathryn Hellweg, district superintendent, said   the district is grateful for McDaniels'   commitment to the school and its athletes and pledged to continue building on Warren's "long-standing tradition of offering quality football programs....”

The school board will accept applications for a replacement through Dec. 15.
