YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Symphony Chorus will gather at the Chevrolet Centre at 5 p.m. Saturday to sing carols before the Youngstown SteelHounds hockey game.
The purpose is to raise funds and food for Second Harvest Food Bank. The public is welcome to attend and is asked to bring either nonperishable food items or cash donations for Second Harvest.
Those who donate will receive a voucher for $4 off a red or gold level seat to the Dec. 21 Steelhounds game, and will be entered into a drawing to win a Steelhounds prize pack, including four tickets to the upcoming Youngstown Symphony Chorus Holiday Concert.
Each day, Second Harvest distributes 20,000 pounds to 170 hunger relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
'Extravaganza'tickets are on sale
BOARDMAN -- Jamie's Dance Force will present its annual "Christmas Extravaganza" at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Boardman Performing Arts Center, Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave.
The show features award-winning dancers, singers, Santa Claus and costumed characters. Among the highlights are "Santa's Gonna Rock," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Toy Soldiers," "Rag Dolls," and special selections from the "Nutcracker" ballet. The dance team from Jamie's Dance Force travels across the country, competing in numerous events. Last summer, the team competed at Starpower Nationals in Orlando, Fla., and garnered top prizes. Eddie Moody, 16, was recognized as Mr. Starpower as the top male soloist in the event.
Great Lakes Balletto present 'Nutcracker'
YOUNGSTOWN -- For nearly two decades, the Great Lakes Festival Ballet, featuring professional and pre-professional dancers, has been bringing "The Nutcracker" to families in the Mahoning Valley.
The ballet is under the direction of Richard Dickinson. Children and adults will enjoy the full-length ballet in which a young girl dreams about the Nutcracker prince, encounters shimmering Snowflakes and Stars and travels to the Land of Sweets.

Band-O-Rama at YSU
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State University Dana School of Music will present the annual Band-O-Rama concert at Powers Auditorium at 8 p.m. Nov. 27.
The program will feature the YSU Concert Band, conducted by Dr. Chris Heidenreich; the Dana Symphonic Wind Ensemble conducted by Dr. Stephen L. Gage; and the YSU Marching Pride. Tickets are available at Powers Auditorium in advance and on the night of the concert for $6.50 for adults and $4 for non-YSU students; YSU students will receive a free ticket with a valid student ID. Seraphim Chorus planstwo concert events
BOARDMAN -- Seraphim Community Chorus, under the direction of Kris Harper, will present a holiday choral concert titled "Christmas In The City" at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at Mary Mother of Hope Parish Center in New Castle, Pa., as a dinner-concert and at 3 p.m. Dec. 10 as a concert only at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., Boardman.
Highlights of the holiday concert include "The Song of Christmas" by Roy Ringwald and Fred Waring. This is a story of the nativity as told in Christmas songs, carols, Biblical verses and costumed tableaux in collaboration with Move Over Broadway Productions, under the direction of Marlene Strollo.
Selections include "Silver Bells," "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "White Christmas," "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah."
Soloists include Renee DiGia, Carol Cook, Mary Lou Weibel, Rosemary Hodos, Bob Greitzer, Adrianne Bosela and Phillip Clark. Accompanist is Kathryn Miller. David Jones Catering will cater the dinner in New Castle.
