Burned body found

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office and city police were attempting Saturday to identify a body burned beyond recognition. The body was discovered late Friday night at Millard and Kenyon avenues on the city’s East Side. A neighbor told police about 11 p.m. that he smelled what appeared to be trash burning and walked down the street. He came upon a smoldering body, and police and fire department were summoned. Firefighters also arrived and extinguished the remains. Police said there was no identification on the body, and they could not determine if it was a man or woman.
