The engagement of Melinda Eileen Kovach and Louis Anthony LaGatta II is announced by their parents, Evelyn M. Kovach, 2959 Holyoke Drive, Poland, and the Rev. Louis and Diane LaGatta, 2550 Blossom Lane, New Castle, Pa.
Miss Kovach, also a daughter of the late George C. Kovach Sr., graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. She is a china specialist at Dillard's in Boardman.
Mr. LaGatta, a maintenance supervisor with Sparmon Fischler in New Castle, received a commercial driver's license from Transport Tech in Bessemer, Pa.
An open wedding has been planned by the couple for 1:30 p.m. July 8 at Holy Family Church in Poland. Their evening reception will be held by invitation at St. Lucy Parish Hall, Campbell.
