"How to Make the Rest of Your Life the Best of Your Life" by Mark Victor Hansen and Art Linkletter (Nelson Books, $24.99 hardcover )
Preaches and promotes what the authors call "successful aging." Hansen says the premise that Americans should work, retire, and watch Oprah the rest of their lives is no longer valid. The authors believe that people must remain active physically and mentally. Both believe that the body and mind cannot be invalid.
Like "Chicken Soup" series is filled with vignettes.
According to Hansen, as people age, they need to change their perception of what they can do and be. Three main ideas are found in this book: People need to do more of what they have been doing; they need to do something brand new; and they should get into volunteerism.
As the baby boomers retire and begin their new post-career lives, they will need to learn a new lifestyle. This book is designed to help them do just that.
