Group to sponsor prayer vigil, protest film

Thursday, May 18, 2006

A local group of America Needs Fatima, a national organization based in Topeka, Kan., will sponsor a prayer vigil at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday at Tinseltown USA movie theater, 7401 Market St., Boardman.
Regina Yurick of Struthers, a member and a Catholic, said the organization focuses on the message that the Blessed Mother gave at Fatima, Italy. That message is to pray for the conversion of the world, she said.
"The vigil is to bring attention to the blasphemy in the movie ... the idea that Jesus was married and had a daughter," she said. "
America Needs Fatima groups across the country will be protesting at movie theaters, Yurick said. "We put the word out and distributed information on the vigil. I don't know how many people will participate," she said.
The group will not be on theater property, but a public area nearby.
