World of Outlaws slated Saturday

It will be the only time this year the series comes to Hartford.
HARTFORD -- The 850-horsepower, winged sprint cars of the World of Outlaws Sprint Series will circulate the 3/8-mile oval at Sharon Speedway Saturday for the only time this season.
Donny Schatz will lead the charge of the Mean 15 drivers. Schatz is the current leader of the World of Outlaws Sprint Series point standings, and has visited victory lane three times this season.
Schatz point leader
Schatz holds a 38-point lead over Terry McCarl in the season standings. McCarl has not visited victory lane yet this season; however, he has finished in the top five eight times and has been in the top 10 nine times this season. Jac Haudenschild of Wooster is in third position. He trails Schatz by 40 points and won May 5 at US 36 Raceway.
Joey Saldana, driver of NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Kasey Kahne's sprint car, is in fourth spot in the standings. Saldana trails Haudenschild by two points for third place and Schatz by 42 for the lead. Brooke Tatnell, the most recent winner in the World of Outlaws Sprint Series, rounds out the top five, and sits 51 points out of first. He has posted one victory so far this season.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Series race at Sharon will feature the $50,000 Challenge. The Challenge gives Friday's winner of the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway the option to start 24th Saturday and race for an extra $50,000 bonus. If the winner from Friday is able to charge through the field and repeat victory at Sharon Speedway, that driver will win a $50,000 bonus.
Blaney calls it a challenge
Dave Blaney, track owner and driver of the Caterpillar Dodge in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, thinks it will be a challenge to come from the back at Sharon, but maybe not as much as at other tracks.
"It will be tough to do, but it is easier here than at 90 percent of the tracks to get from the back to the front," Blaney said. "It will be very interesting to watch."
With the recent rainouts at Attica Raceway Park and K-C Raceway in Ohio, the Outlaws will be anxious to sling dirt with the best sprint car drivers of the area in the 40-lap A-main Saturday. The Mean 15 will face-off against the likes of Ed Lynch, Jr., Jarod Larson and Dale Blaney on the dirt at Sharon Speedway.
