MERCER, Pa. -- A Maine man was put on parole for two misdemeanor drug counts on the condition he stays out of the area.
Judge Thomas Dobson of Mercer County Common Pleas Court recently sentenced Said Ali, 41, of Portland, to concurrent 62-day to one-year jail terms for misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled substance.
The judge gave Ali credit for 62 days already served in jail. He was then placed on unsupervised parole for the remainder of the term provided he not return to Mercer County except to retrieve his car or to appear as a witness in the trial of any other person charged in the drug case.
Ali was apprehended by state police Oct. 1, 2004, while driving on U.S. Route 80, Findley Township, with a quantity of plant material containing Cathine, a controlled substance, court documents state.
