YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State's home opener, scheduled for today against Bowling Green, was canceled due to forecasted cold temperatures.
A re-scheduled date is pending availability for both teams. The Penguins are scheduled to play host to West Liberty State at Cene Park Wednesday at 3 p.m.

AKRON -- Latalia Jones of Chaney High won the 60 meter dash (7.52 seconds) in Division I at the Ohio state indoor track and field meet at the University of Akron Saturday. Jones was also the runner-up in the 200 (24.80), earning All-Ohio in both events.
Also, Lordstown's Seth Mansell ran a personal-best time of 2:01.1 in the 800 to place fourth. His teammate, Ryan Pal, placed seventh in the high jump (5 feet, 11 inches). Kayla Ellks set a school record in the 200 (26.9) to finish ninth.
Banna selectedfor Big 33 game
CANFIELD -- Canfield senior linebacker Kyle Banna will join all-star players from across Ohio against the Pennsylvania all-stars in the 49th annual Big 33 Football Classic June 17 at Hershey Park Stadium. Banna, a first team All-Ohioan for the Cardinals last fall, will play at Youngstown State.

*GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel junior Geno Bianco was named Presidents' Athletic Conference men's tennis player of the week.
Bianco won two matches against Thomas More, at third singles and second doubles.
*GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel freshman Dorran Coley was named PAC men's track and field athlete of the week.
Coley was named MVP of the Maroon Invitational at Roanoke College (Va.) Saturday. He won the 110-meter high hurdles (14.75 seconds) and 400 intermediate hurdles (56.77), qualifying for the NCAA outdoor championships and setting a new school record in the high hurdles.
He also ran legs on the winning 4x100 (43.39) and 4x400 (3:23.39) relays.
*GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel senior Kandiace Gibson was named PAC women's track and field athlete of the week.
Gibson had four victories at the Maroon Invitational, hosted by Roanoke College (Va.).
Gibson won the 100 (12.44) and 200 (27.47) and was on the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
*ALLIANCE -- Mount Union College sophomore outfielder Erin Duignan was named Ohio Athletic Conference co-hitter of the week. Duignan went 4-for-7 with three runs scored, a triple, a home run and seven RBIs in two games. Her seven RBIs came in the nightcap of a doubleheader with Walsh, setting a school single-game record. This season, Duignan leads the Purple Raiders in batting (.541), triples (4), RBIs (18) and total bases (34).

LAKE MILTON -- Al MacNaughton of Newton Falls recorded a hole-in-one Sunday at Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course. He aced the No. 17 hole, 135 yards with a 6-iron. It was his third hole in one. Witnessing the shot were Richard Mcie and John Perry.

MERCER, Pa. -- Starting times for Saturday's season opener has been pushed forward two hours. The new times are: pit gates open at 1:30 p.m., grandstands open at 2:30, the drivers meeting is 4, hot laps at 4:15, pill cutoff at 4:30 and racing at 5.
AQHA show
CANFIELD -- The Northern Ohio QHA, an American Quarter Horses Association-approved show, will be held April 22-23 at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
American Quarter Horse shows test horses' abilities in different classes and feature events like jumping, reining, barrel racing, cutting, roping and pole bending.

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers forward LeBron James was named the NBA's Eastern Conference player of the week. In three games, James led Cleveland to a 2-1 record by averaging 30.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
It marks the third time this season and the sixth time in his career that James has won the award.
Wittenberg welcomed back after title lossSPRINGFIELD-- Wittenberg players were welcomed home after coming within a whisker of capturing the NCAA Division III national championship.
Families, friends and Tigers fans lined a campus sidewalk to greet the team as it returned from Salem, Va., Sunday evening.
