Ex-library sale is OK'd
YOUNGSTOWN -- Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County trustees have approved the sale of the former North Library and its property to the Mahoning County Mental Health Board for $250,001.
The North branch, 1344 Fifth Ave., closed permanently May 14, 2005. It was one of the branches identified for closing in the Library 2011 strategic plan for its close proximity to the main library -- only 1.2 miles away -- and the significant shift in patron traffic from the branch to the main library at Wick and Rayen avenues. Much of the children's collection, which was housed at North, was moved to the main library.
Complaint about officer
BAZETTA -- The township police chief has confirmed that his department has received a complaint of criminal misconduct by a township police officer.
Police Chief Charles Sayers said he has asked the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation to look into the complaint. Sayers said he would not comment on the nature of the complaint.

E-ZPass on expressway
BEAVER, Pa. -- The E-ZPass electronic fare collection and automated cash machines are coming later this year to the 16-mile Beaver Valley Expressway (Pa. Route or Turnpike 60) in Beaver and Lawrence counties. There are now manned lanes and exact-change coin baskets to collect fares on that roadway with two mainline plazas on the Beaver Valley Expressway.
Electronic-fare collection services at the two mainline plazas on the Beaver Valley Expressway are expected to begin by mid-July. All improvements should be completed by summer 2007. The new, automated cash machines will be dual-height and will be able to return change and receipts. They will be programmed to accept coins and $1 and $5 bills.
