XWARREN -- Dr. and Mrs. Garry L. Stear, 5038 Jonathan Lane, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Melissa D. Stear, 4657 Lambert Drive, Alexandria, Va., and Douglas H. Gorsline also of the Lambert Drive address.
The future groom is a son of Sarah McGowan of Silver Spring, Md., and Crofts Gorsline of Rochester, N.Y.
The bride-elect, an attorney with Jones Day in Washington, graduated from Duke University in Durham, N.C., with a bachelor's degree in public policy studies. She earned her juris doctorate from George Washington University Law School in Washington.
The prospective groom graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, with a bachelor's degree in international studies. He is an interim program manager with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency in Fort Belvoir, Va., and will receive a master's degree from Tufts University in Medford, Mass., this month.
July 1 has been chosen by the couple for their 5:30 p.m. wedding at St. Mary Catholic Church in Warren. Invitations will be issued for the ceremony and also for an evening reception at the Avalon Inn, Howland.
