Polka Mass planned
LOWELLVILLE -- Holy Rosary Church, 131 E. Wood St., will have a Slavic folk liturgy and polka Mass at 3 p.m. July 2 with the Wayne Tomsic Combo. Celebrant will be the Rev. George Blasko.
The church is the site of the first polka Mass that was said Memorial Day 1972. After the service, a reception and concert will be in the parish hall.
New Bethel anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., will celebrate its 82nd anniversary with special services at 7:30 and 10:40 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday.
The Rev. Michael Harrison and the congregation of Union Baptist Church will be guests. The Rev. Kenneth L. Simon is pastor and the Rev. Lonnie K.A. Simon is pastor emeritus.
Celebrate America
GIRARD -- July 2 will be marked as Celebrate America Sunday at Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St. During the 10 a.m. worship service, the Girard Community Band will play patriotic music and Girard Community Choir will perform special anthems in honor of America.
After the service, a potluck picnic will follow with hot dogs, apple pie and other all-American treats. For information, call the church office at (330) 545-4361.
Program at center
CANFIELD -- Susan Boyer will speak on how she changed her life from being a drug addict to doing volunteer work at Total Living Center in Canton during a program at 7 p.m. Monday at Lifecare Ministry Center, Lucille Orr Ministries Inc., 5357 Raccoon Road.
Annual prayer rally
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mount Moriah Fire Baptized Holiness Church, 84 Bright Ave., Campbell, will have its annual prayer rally from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 24-28 and Aug. 7-11 at the Phar-Mor building, 20 Federal Place.
Musical planned
FARRELL, Pa. -- New and Living Way Apostolic Church, 927 Lee Ave., will host a musical, "Now Behold the Lamb!" at 4 p.m. Sunday. Special guests will be the United Faith Mass Choir of Meadville, Pa., directed by the Rev. Berta Newsom.
Gospel concert
YOUNGSTOWN -- Cornerstone Chapel, 1224 N. Belle Vista Ave., will have a gospel concert at 6 p.m. Sunday featuring Glory Bound of Rogers. A freewill offering will be accepted.
Rev. Kimbrough honored
STRUTHERS -- The 15th pastoral anniversary celebration for the Rev. Richard E. Kimbrough of Fellowship Church of God in Christ will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at the church, 115 Frank St. A celebration dinner will follow the morning service. The public is invited.
Concert planned
GIRARD -- Mahoning Valley Praise Band, 11th Hour and Glorybound will present a free gospel concert at 6 p.m. July 2 at Mahoning Valley Church, 2722 W. Liberty St. A freewill offering will be taken.
Presenting piano concert
CANFIELD -- Joel Batchler, a senior at Austintown Fitch High School, will present a piano concert at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 3755 S. Raccoon Road.
