Stephen Douglas drove in two runs in Mahoning Valley's 3-2 victory.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- Pitching was the dominant theme again Tuesday night at Dietrick Park as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers won their first game of the 2006 season, 3-2 over the Jamestown Jammers before 1,943 fans.
J.D. Martin, Dan Eisentrager, Derrick Loop and Neil Wagner held Jamestown to three hits.
At one point, Scrappers pitchers retired 21 of 22 Jamestown batters. Wagner worked a perfect ninth, striking out two, for the save.
Andy Lytle, Cirillo Cumberbatch, Kelly Edmundson and Stephen Douglas had two hits apiece for the Scrappers. Douglas had two RBIs and a stolen base.
Rubber match
The Scrappers (1-1) and Jamestown conclude their season-opening three-game series tonight at Dietrick Park (7:05). Right-hander Michael Eisenberg, the eighth-round pick out of Marietta College and the NCAA Division III pitcher of the year, will get the start for the Scrappers.
Friday, the Scrappers play their home opener at Eastwood Field against the Williamsport Crosscutters (7:05 p.m.)
Friday's game, sponsored by Time Warner Cable and Century 21 Mill Creek, will feature opening night fireworks and the Home Run Derby trip giveaway.
