Cops seek men who robbed, shot at women

DARLINGTON, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are searching for James V. Rhodes, 34, who is accused of robbing and shooting at a teen-age girl and a woman.
Police said Rhodes and an unknown man pulled behind a car carrying a 31-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl from Columbiana County, Ohio, at 12:32 a.m. Wednesday on Walts Mill Road at Cannelton Road.
They stopped when Ritteger flashed his head lights. He approached the car and pulled a semi-automatic pistol. Police said he demanded the woman shut off the car and give him the keys. He fired three shots away from the car when the driver hesitated.
Police said the woman tried to drive away, but Rhodes grabbed the wheel and nearly forced them over a hillside so she stopped.
Another man came from Rhodes' vehicle with a gun and threatened the women, police said. Rhodes took the car keys and threw them over a hill and demanded the women's purses, police said. The men took the purses back to their car and the women ran into the woods, calling 911 on a cell phone.
The men shot at the women as they fled; 911 operators heard the shots, police said.
