NORTH LIMA -- Beaver Township officials are looking for help with the development of the neighborhood plan for the North Lima area.
Township residents and stakeholders are invited to a special meeting to discuss the project at 6 p.m. at the township administration office, 11999 South Ave.
The purpose of a neighborhood plan is to improve a specific area of a community, rather than the community at large.
Officials have said much of the work would include beautification efforts, such as streetscaping.
Earlier this year township trustees appropriated $15,000 for the development of the plan, which is expected to cost $14,700. They township has hired Herbert, Rowland and Grubic Inc., based in Harrisburg, Pa., to prepare the plan.
Christopher Kogelnik of HRG, a township resident, said he will work closely with township officials and residents to develop the plan. Kogelnik works out of the company's Hermitage, Pa., branch, where the North Lima plan is to be developed.

Michele Swope, township zoning inspector, said the neighborhood design will supplement the township's comprehensive land-use plan adopted in 2003. A committee is to be formed to identify and focus on the project's needs, Swope said.
She said officials hope to have the plan ready in six months.
"Hopefully we will get a good turn out and get a good start," Swope said. "A lot of people are expressing an interest, so I think we're already heading in the right direction."
The township has explored the concept of developing a neighborhood plan for North Lima for the past few years.
The neighborhood plan is to be used to guide the township in shaping the growth and development of North Lima.
