XEDINBURG, Pa. -- Mr. and Mrs. Michael Sfara, 5065 W. Main St., attended a celebration Mass on April 30 at Christ the King Church, St. Lawrence, in Hillsville, Pa., on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple, who are members of the church, were also honored during a dinner party held afterward at the Holiday Inn in Boardman
Hosts for the events were members of their family, Mark and Karen Sfara of Boardman and Susan and Scott Jones of New Castle, Pa. Rounding out the family circle are five grandchildren. A son, Michael Sfara Jr., is deceased.
The former Marie DeCerbo and Mr. Sfara were married May 28, 1956, at St. Lawrence Church.
Mrs. Sfara was an instructional aide at Mohawk Elementary School in Bessemer, Pa., prior to retiring in 2001.
Mr. Sfara retired in 1977 from Youngstown Sheet and Tube in Campbell where he was a production control clerk, and in 1997 from Mohawk High School where he was a custodian.
