Rain leaves Edinburg flooded and damaged

EDINBURG, Pa. -- The village was shut down Sunday evening after heavy rains left 2 to 3 feet of water in sections, according to the Lawrence County Emergency Operations Center.
State Route 551 in Edinburg was closed about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Seventeen homes, a business and two churches had some flooding, but the height of the water or the amount of any damage in the structures wasn't known, according to the center.
Rains began about 5:30 p.m. and ended about 10 p.m. Sunday.
Heavy rain often comes down a hill, over railroad tracks and into the village that is lower than the rail lines, according to the center.
