TORONTO -- Bernie Williams homered, Derek Jeter drove in the go-ahead run with a bases-loaded walk, and the New York Yankees ended a three-game losing streak Saturday with a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Struggling Alex Rodriguez was the Yankees' designated hitter after committing five errors in five games -- and this time his woes were at the plate. He went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts, including one with the bases loaded in the sixth.
Rodriguez was forced to play the field in the ninth and caught a popup for the final out of the game.
Chien-Ming Wang (11-4) won his third straight start, allowing four runs and 10 hits in six innings. He struck out one and walked one.
Mariano Rivera made his 700th career appearance, pitching the ninth for his 23rd save in 24 chances.
Eric Hinske homered for the Blue Jays.

SEATTLE -- Normally reliable shortstop Alex Gonzalez's sixth-inning throwing error allowed Eduardo Perez to score the tie-breaking run, spoiling Kason Gabbard's major league debut.
Boston's league-best defense betrayed Gabbard and reliever Julian Tavarez in the decisive sixth and seventh innings.
Boston's five-game winning streak was snapped.
Felix Hernandez (9-8) won for the sixth time in eight decisions, allowing two runs and four hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out six. Rookie Mark Lowe, two weeks removed from Double-A, pitched a perfect eighth and J.J. Putz finished for his 19th save in 22 chances.
Gabbard, 24, allowed three runs -- two earned -- and eight hits in his 51/3 innings. He walked two and struck out three in just his sixth start above Double-A.
He watched his day turn with one out in the sixth. First base umpire Larry Poncino ruled that David Ortiz did not have his toes on the base while stretching to catch third baseman Mike Lowell's throw. That allowed Perez to reach on Seattle's seventh hit.
Carl Everett then singled on Gabbard's 99th pitch, prompting manager Terry Francona to replace Gabbard with Tavarez.
Kenji Johjima hit Tavarez's third pitch slowly on the ground. Gonzalez raced in and shovel-tossed the ball off the top Perez's back as the designated hitter approached third base. The ball bounded past Lowell toward the Boston dugout, allowing Perez to rumble home with the go-ahead run.

Athletics 9, Tigers 5
DETROIT -- Mark Kotsay's three-run homer in the second inning helped Oakland erase a five-run deficit, then Milton Bradley and Marco Scutaro each added homers to give the Athletics a cushion.
The Tigers got off to a great start with five runs in the first inning, three on Carlos Guillen's double.
Joe Blanton (10-8) gave up five runs and nine hits over five innings.
Oakland went ahead 6-5 in the fifth on Mark Ellis' second sacrifice fly.
Detroit starter Zach Miner gave up five runs -- all in the second, wasting a 5-0 lead -- and seven hits over 21/3 innings, easily the rookie's shortest outing.
