Prisoners recaptured
LISBON -- Two prisoners at the Columbiana County Jail were recaptured at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, about seven hours after they took off. Michael E. Armstrong, 28, and Shawn M. Cunningham, 18, both of East Liverpool, were recaptured in Beaver Creek State Park in St. Clair Township. No injuries were reported. They were jail trustees serving time on nonviolent misdemeanors. While mowing grass at the jail, they took off on a tractor, stole a car from a nearby home, and hid in a trailer in Echo Dell Trailer Park. Authorities raided the trailer after receiving a tip. The men tried to escape by going into the park. Sheriff David Smith said the men face felony charges.

81-year-old mugged
LIBERTY -- Township police are looking for the woman who stole an 81-year-old township man's wallet late Monday. According to police, the man said he was driving down Belmont Avenue just before midnight when the twenty-something woman flagged him down and asked for $20 for gas. She offered a necklace and earrings in exchange for the money, he told officers. The woman went to a nearby home to get the jewelry, leaving the man an identification card to hold until she returned, reports said. Reports say the man told officers that he and the woman "struck a deal" upon her return and the woman began trying to make out with him. He noticed his wallet missing later.
