Ursuline battles, but falls against No. 1 Akron SVSM



The Irish overcame a 12 point deficit before falling 66-54.
AKRON -- Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, ranked first in this week's Associated Press Division II poll, led 42-30 after three quarters and held on to defeat Ursuline, 66-54, in a non-conference boys basketball game Tuesday night.
St. Vincent-St. Mary improved its record to 11-1.
Jerome Jones paced Ursuline (8-5) with 15 points. Lance Randall added 12 and D'Aunday Brown had 11.
St. Thomas Aquinas 61,Rayen 47
LOUISVILLE -- Joe Hoffman scored 11 points and had five assists while Evan Prouch had 10 points, five steals and four rebounds to lead St. Thomas Aquinas (4-8).
Jamayle Roland scored 18 points and had three assists and two steals to lead Rayen (2-11).
Salem 54,Struthers 42
STRUTHERS -- Jarin Heath scored 16 points while Tom Jesko and Ryan Benchwick added 14 apiece to lead Salem (11-1, 5-0 Metro Athletic Conference).
Eric Krestel and Chris Kadvan each had nine points to lead Struthers (6-6, 1-4 MAC).
Youngstown Christian 56,Warren Christian 42
WARREN -- David Colbert had 19 points and five rebounds while Dom Vitullo tallied 17 points and had eight rebounds to spark Youngstown Christian (5-7).
Aaron Agresta added 10 points for the winners.
Dan Jolly and Frank Powell each had 11 points for Warren Christian (8-7).
West Branch 47,Springfield 41
AKRON -- Kyle Rockwell scored 19 points and Shan Young added 12 for the Warriors (9-3) in a non-conference game.
The Warriors built a 31-19 lead by the intermission and held on to post the victory over Springfield (11-2).
Young grabbed 12 rebounds as the Warriors had a 29-18 rebounding advantage.
