Two 17-year-old boys also were charged.
BOARDMAN -- A 17-year-old Campbell girl is charged with assaulting a police officer, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and failure to disperse after police were called to a large fight at a Tiffany Boulevard business.
Police were called to Skate Connection on Saturday evening because of a fight in the parking lot involving about 300 people. Poland village and township units also responded.
After police warned that pepper spray would be used to disperse the groups, an officer saw the girl walk up to another girl and scream and swing her arms. The girl had already been told to leave the area. The officer then stood between the two girls.
Police said the girl yelled and swore at the officer and struck him in the chest with both hands. A police report states the officer tried to escort the girl to a cruiser to handcuff her, but she struck him in the face and chest again.
Another officer helped subdue the girl. She was treated at St. Elizabeth Boardman Campus for bruises. The officer also was treated for a knee injury sustained while subduing the girl.
She was lodged at Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center.
Others charged
Two other teens also were charged after the melee.
A 17-year-old Youngstown boy was released to a parent after being issued a misdemeanor citation on a charge of fighting, and a Campbell boy, also 17, was charged with obstructing official business.
Police said the Campbell boy gave a false name and birth date. They said he sped out of the lot in a vehicle that didn't match the registration. He also backed into a police car after stopping in the parking lot of Classic Bakery, also on Tiffany Boulevard, police said.
