In the last meeting, YSU trailed 32-8 midway through the first half as the Ramblers opened up hitting 10 of their first 11 shots from the field. YSU came back behind senior Domonique Crawford and junior Quin Humphrey to regain the lead, but couldn't hold off Loyola's Blake Schilb, who hit a 3-point goal with three seconds remaining to send the game to overtime where the Penguins lost. Crawford had a career high 37 points in the game, while Humphrey wrapped up both the league scoring and rebounding titles with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Derrick Harris also won the league's assist crown averaging 5.5 per contest. Schilb, who scored 29 points against the Penguins, finished four points behind Humphrey in the league scoring race. Loyola defeated YSU 79-75 last season in the opening round of the Horizon Tournament at the Gentile Center.
