Runaway truck hits pedestrian and five cars

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- One pedestrian was injured and five cars were damaged by a runaway truck on the Westminster College campus.
Police said a 2002 GMC pickup truck owned by Joe Surgenavic, 53, of New Castle was parked near Russell Hall on College Drive when it apparently slipped out of gear about 8 a.m. Monday. The truck was drifting downhill near the Westminster Fieldhouse when it struck a student walking to class, police said. The student, Josh Gagric, 18, of Beaver Falls, was hit and knocked to the ground. He suffered injuries to his shoulder and hip and was taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle. He was later released.
The truck continued around a curve and into a parked sport utility vehicle, which was pushed into four other parked cars. No charges have been filed.
