Boardman cleanup meeting set this week

Monday, February 27, 2006

BOARDMAN -- The township police department will have its next community cleanup day meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the government center, 8299 Market St.
The department will be asking business and property owners along the township's main corridors to sweep their driveway accesses and sidewalks. Debris can be placed along the curb where it will not interfere with traffic. Owners are encouraged to pick up excess debris if they desire, though.
The Ohio Department of Transportation plans to clean the area of U.S. Route 224 and Market Street starting May 14. Residents should mark May 13-14 as "clean-sweep" days, says a department news release.
It is the BPD's goal to develop and maintain a pleasing environment in which to live and work through programs such as Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. Although such programs cannot be expected to reduce crime dramatically, they may improve the overall quality of life for residents, the department release says.
