YSU ROUNDUP Penguins second at Horizon track meet

YSU's swimming and diving team was sixth at the league championships.
KENT -- The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee swept the team titles at the 2006 Horizon League Indoor Track & amp; Field Championships here on Sunday, with both the men's and women's team holding off host Youngstown State University for the championship.
On the men's side, UWM finished with a total of 164 points, ahead of YSU at 132. The University of Illinois at Chicago finished third at 82, followed by Loyola University Chicago at 76, Butler University at 53 and the University of Detroit Mercy with 47.
On the women's side, UW-Milwaukee recorded 172 points on the weekend, 21 ahead of YSU. Loyola finished in third with 73.5, while UIC came in fourth with 56.5. Detroit (47), Butler (44) and Weight State University (11) rounded out the field.
UWM coach Pete Corfeld was selected as both men's and women's Coach of the Year.
Second-place finisher Youngstown State and UIC also claimed multiple individual awards after the meet. YSU freshman Katie Betts was named the Women's Running Newcomer of the Year after setting a meet record in the 200m dash and finishing third in the 60 m race, and Jarrod Davis earned Men's Outstanding Field Performer honors after finishing first in the weight throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 19.01m and second in the shot put.
Swimming/diving
CLEVELAND -- Freshman Olivia Arnold finished 10th in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18 minutes, 14.91 seconds, as the Youngstown State swimming and diving team completed its season at the Horizon League Championships Saturday.
Freshman Erin-Michelle Gordon added a 14th-place time of 18:49.69 in the event.
In consolation finals, sophomore Julia Darling placed 12th in the 200 breast (2:32.81) while Kim Hanley placed 15th (2:41.46). Junior Becky Bertuzzi placed 14th in the 100 free (54.27) and 15th in 200 fly (2:21.62) while Natasha Bray was 16th in the 200 fly (2:21.76).
Bertuzzi teamed up with Brittany Senn, Jessica Front and Gordon in the 400 freestyle relay to place sixth in 3:39.41, the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Kelly Reese was 13th in 3-meter diving with a score of 203.95 points.
UW-Green Bay won the meet with 805 points while Wright State finished second with 772. The remainder of the team standings was UW-Milwaukee third, UIC fourth, Cleveland State fifth, YSU sixth and Butler seventh.
Baseball
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State scored the final six runs of the game in a 13-11 victory over Youngstown State Saturday.
The Penguins (0-3) led 11-7 in the seventh, but the Buccaneers (7-5) scored a run in the bottom of the seventh and five in the eighth.
Charles Schultz went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, while Justin Banks, Dustin Thomas and Brent Parks had three hits apiece for YSU.
C.J. Lee went 5-for-5 with six RBIs for ETSU.
YSU's Chris Dennis allowed six runs, two of which were earned, in three innings in his first start since May 29, 2004.
The Penguins visit Wofford Saturday and Sunday.
