STATE SWIMMING MEET O'Halloran is 14th in 50-yd. freestyle

CANTON -- Boardman High School sophomore swimmer Conner O'Halloran placed 14th in the 50-yard freestyle at Friday's state swimming meet at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.
O'Halloran's time was 22.14 seconds.
He also was part of the Spartans' 200 medley relay that finished 19th.
"I finished 16th last year," O'Halloran said. "Some of the guys I raced against today were a little stronger, most of them were juniors and seniors. I was the only sophomore among the 16 swimming.
"I am a little disappointed in my time because I swam 21.8 in the sectionals."
O'Halloran finished 11th in the state preliminaries with a time of 21.90.
In the 200-medley relay, O'Halloran, Chad DeAngelo, Brian Warhatch and Mike Barringer finished in 1:40.87 for 19th place in the 200-medlay relay.
Two relays competing
"We have relays going in the 200 and 400-yard freestyle races tomorrow and I think the 200 is our best chance to score well," O'Halloran. "I hope we finish in the top eight. In the 400, I think we have a chance at finishing in the top 16."
Boardman coach Terry O'Halloran said, "The boys are thinking positive and will be fired up in the water for the two races tomorrow and they plan on making the most of it."
The Spartans' 200 freestyle relay team (Barringer, DeAngelo, Worhatch, O'Halloran) and the 400 freestyle relay team (Barringer, David Shilling, Worhatch, O'Halloran) will compete, as will Canfield's 200 freestyle relay team (James Hunter, Ryan King, Jordan Graham, Eric Davis) and 400 freestyle relay team (Hunter, King, Graham, Davis).
