Sentencing date set in city assault case

YOUNGSTOWN -- Sentencing will be April 26 for Donell J. Rowe, 26, of East Avondale Avenue, who pleaded guilty this week in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to charges of aggravated assault and illegal possession of weapons.
Youngstown police said Rowe shot Justin Salata, 27, of Pointview Avenue in the abdomen during an argument in December near South Heights and Sheridan avenues.
Rowe faces up to 71/2 years in prison, though the prosecuting and defense attorneys will recommend a 41/2- year sentence.
Rowe first made news April 29, 2003, when he was shot by Martin J. Koliser Jr. outside a bar on Youngstown's West Side. Koliser then shot and killed city Patrolman Michael T. Hartzell in downtown Youngstown.
