NEOUCOM endowed chair
ROOTSTOWN -- A $2 million gift -- the largest in the foundation's history -- from The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation of Hudson will allow the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine to endow its first clinical chair.
The establishment of The Margaret Clark Morgan Endowed Chair in Psychiatry will allow the recruitment of a talented psychiatrist and educator to lead NEOUCOM's many activities across the continuum of psychiatric medical education.
"I applaud the foundation for its willingness and foresight to address a demonstrated regional need -- a need for enhanced psychiatric care. The creation of this endowed chair in psychiatry will have a positive impact on medical education and patient care for many years to come," said Dr. Lois Margaret Nora, NEOUCOM president and dean of the College of Medicine.
The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation was founded in 2001 in Hudson, Ohio, as a private, grant-making foundation. It pursues the interests of founder Margaret Clark Morgan, longtime Hudson resident and active community member, with a primary focus of supporting the mental health field.
Liver cancer treatment
WARREN -- Chemoembolization, a technique used to directly deliver cancer treatment to a specific site, is available for patients with certain types of liver cancer at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. The direct treatment method specifically affects the tumor and spares healthy tissue by keeping chemotherapy drugs at the tumor site and from spreading throughout the body. The technique combines chemotherapy with embolization, a minimally invasive procedure that delivers the treatment and blocks the blood flow to a specific tumor.
