Lakeview's victory secures TAC-8 title

BROOKFIELD -- Eddie Mackiewicz scored 20 points Friday as the Lakeview High boys basketball team clinched the Trumbull Athletic Conference title with a 57-51 victory.
Dustin Opalka scored 17 points for the Bulldogs (16-4, 12-2 TAC).
For the Warriors (6-14, 4-10), Josh Harkulich scored 18 points and Chris Bombeck 17.
Champion 73, Hubbard 67
CHAMPION -- Tyler Kish and Mark Jackson each scored 17 points for the Golden Flashes (7-13, 4-10 TAC). Markel Vaughn added 10.
For the Eagles (6-14), Frank Rosile had a game-high 22 points. Dexter Bledsoe and Marc Kanetsky each had 12 points while Corey Hitt had 11.
Newton Falls 54, Girard 35
NEWTON FALLS -- The Tigers (3-16, 3-10 TAC) broke away from a close game as they outscored the Indians (3-16, 6-8) 20-11 in the third quarter.
Nick James paced the Tigers with 15 points and nine rebounds. Mike Pelyak added 11 points and three assists. Matt Dillon finished with 10 points.
Eric Stevens paced the Indians with 13 points.
Chaney 86, East Palestine 72
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dominique Peake had 13 points in the second quarter as Chaney outscored the Bulldogs 31-11 to take control.
Peake finished with a season-high 30 points for the Cowboys (6-14), who were playing their final game in their old gymnasium. Antonio Fitzgerald added 20 points, Corey Council had 13 points and 15 rebounds and Kory Jackson had 13 points, seven assists and eight rebounds.
Jake Harvey had 23 points -- including six 3s -- and Tom Powers added 15 points (all on 3s) for the Bulldogs (15-5).
Wilson 82, Beaver Local 57
LISBON -- Wilson junior William Johnson scored a career-high 36 points and added 11 rebounds and six steals for the Redmen (9-10, 4-3 Steel Valley Conference), who took a 27-9 first-quarter lead.
Justin Maxwell had 16 points and six assists, while junior Montell Scott had eight points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Canfield 78, Fitch 58
CANFIELD -- Mike Rounsavall scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to spearhead a well-balanced Canfield (15-5) attack.
Kyle Melewski added 13 points while Sean Baker, Gurprett Singh and Joe Carbon 12 had apiece for Canfield.
James Wallace poured in 36 points, including four 3-point goals, to lead Fitch (2-18) while John Stockman added nine points.
Struthers 56, Sebring 50
STRUTHERS -- Matt Kukura scored 17 points in the Wildcats' regular-season finale.
Also reaching double figure for Struthers (8-12) were Jim Sodeman with 12 and Chris Kadvan with 11.
Jesse James and Zach Tieche led the Trojans with 17 and 11 points.
South Range 69, United 48
NORTH LIMA -- Josh Less and Steve Whitfield each scored 16 points to lead South Range (7-13). Less had four 3-point goals.
Dan Holloway added 13 points, nine assists and six steals, while Scott Yeagley contributed eight rebounds and seven points.
Dan Schaffer scored 12 points, including three 3-point goals, and Chris Harrison 10 points to lead United (5-15).
Lowellville 61, Youngstown Christian 52
YOUNGSTOWN -- Rocky Nolfi and Mario Nero each scored 17 points while John Wilaj had 15 to lead Lowellville (8-12). Jim Sudon added nine points.
The Rockets trailed at the half, 28-27, but rallied for a 16-7 scoring advantage in the third period.
Aaron Agresta scored 15 points to lead Youngstown Christian (6-14), while David Colbert had 11 and Dominic Vitullo six with seven rebounds and Kory Cooper seven points.
