Commissioner's mother resigns from job

WARREN -- Donna G. Polivka, mother of Trumbull County Commissioner Dan Polivka, has given her resignation from her job at the county Department of Job and Family Services.
She was hired to work as a unit support worker with the agency in September 2005, doing document imaging. She earned about $10.50 an hour.
Tom Mahoney, J & amp;FS director, said she gave a verbal resignation Thursday, giving two weeks' notice, and saying her last day would be March 8.
Mahoney said she told him she was leaving "for the best interest of her and her family."
She was originally hired during the summer to work as an intern in the senior citizen division. At the time, Dan Polivka abstained from voting on the hiring.
Later, when she was hired to the permanent position, commissioners did not vote on it. Commissioners did not have to vote on her hiring for the permanent position, they said, because of the earlier hiring.
