Chaves, Rogner, Bays key Warren JFK win



ROOTSTOWN -- The Warren JFK girls basketball team took a 10-point lead by intermission (24-14) and went on to post a 52-47 victory over Chagrin Falls in a Division III tournament game Thursday in the Rootstown High gymnasium.
The second-seeded Chagrin Falls team bowed out with a 16-6 record, while the Eagles improved to 8-13.
Both schools made 12 field goals, but the Eagles did a better job at the foul line sinking 19-of-24 free throws, compared to the Tigers' 11-of-19.
Michelle Chaves sparked the JFK balanced scoring attack with 17 points. Katie Rogner added 16 and Samantha Bays finished with 14.
Jen Caiola led Chagrin Falls with 14 points. Jane Stricker chipped in with 13 and Judy Stricker had 10.
