CHAMPION -- Actress Nikki Micheaux will discuss her life and acting career at 6 p.m. March 9 at Kent State University-Trumbull campus, 4314 Mahoning Ave. N.W.
Micheaux was born in Detroit and grew up in St. Louis. After completing her undergraduate degree in Colorado, she moved to California to pursue an acting career.
She also worked full-time as an elementary school teacher in Los Angeles.
Micheaux's film credits include "Their Eyes Were Watching God," "My Giant," "The Ranch," "God's Waiting List," "With It" and "With or Without You. In addition to performances in "Six Feet Under" and "Soul Food," her television roles include "Desperate Housewives," "The West Wing," "ER," "NYPD Blue," "The Practice" and "The District."

Butler will featureelementary art event
YOUNGSTOWN -- The 16th annual Elementary Art Recognition Program will be 1-3 p.m. March 19 at the Butler Institute of American Art.
The event, sponsored by the Steel Valley Art Teachers Association, honors elementary art pupils from Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties. There will be an award ceremony at 1 p.m. The reception and exhibit is free and open to the public. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.
Carousel to presentmusical 'Seven Brides'
AKRON -- Carousel dinner-theater will present the classic musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" March 1 through April 29.
Set in the Oregon wilderness in the 1850s, it begins with love at first sight between Millie and a handsome backwoodsman who sweeps her off her feet and takes her to his cabin in the mountains. There she discovers she is expected to keep house not only for her new husband, but also for his six uncivilized brothers. She schemes to civilize and marry off her rowdy brothers-in-law.
The play includes well-known songs such as "Wonderful Wonderful Day" and an incredible barn-raising.
Show times are Tuesday through Thursday evenings at 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:30 p.m.; Sunday evenings at 5 p.m.; and matinees Wednesday through Saturday at 2 p.m. Dinner begins two hours before curtain time. Tickets range from $28.50 to $49.
