LOS ANGELES -- Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of rock 'n' roll king Elvis Presley, has married guitarist and music producer Michael Lockwood in a ceremony in Kyoto, Japan. Presley, 38, and Lockwood exchanged vows in a traditional Japanese ceremony Jan. 22, her publicist Paul Bloch said Thursday. It was Presley's fourth marriage. She was previously married to Nicolas Cage, Michael Jackson and Danny Keough, who is the father of her two children. The bride's mother, actress Priscilla Presley, walked her daughter down the aisle and gave her away, Bloch said. Daughter Riley Keough was maid of honor and son Benjamin Keough was a groomsman. The best man was Presley's first husband, Danny Keough. Presley lives in the Los Angeles area but Bloch said he didn't know where the couple planned to live.
'Catwoman' earns BerryHasty Pudding award
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Halle Berry had to write "I will not make 'Catwoman II"' on a chalkboard four times in order to earn her pudding pot as Harvard's Hasty Pudding woman of the year. Berry's performance in the 2004 action bomb earned her a worst-actress award in last year's Razzies, a spoof of the Oscars that trashes Hollywood's worst. Before she was given the traditional brass pudding pot during a roast at Harvard's Hasty Pudding Theater, Berry danced suggestively with a Harvard student dressed like a French poodle. She also acted out scenes from "Monster's Ball," a film for which she won an Oscar and a SAG award in 2002. Berry, 39, said she takes her Hasty Pudding award "very seriously." "It's going to go right next to my Oscar," she said.
Simon Cowell is lately a man of little words
NEW YORK -- "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell usually has big bad words to describe the reality show's wannabe pop stars. But the biting Brit sums up his relationships with past "AI" winners with one little one: "tiny." As for first "Idol" winner, recent Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson, "She would be like a stranger to me now," Cowell told The Associated Press last week. In January, Cowell criticized Clarkson for not allowing the use of her songs by contestants on the fifth season of the high-rated show. She later changed her mind. Then, during Clarkson's Grammy acceptance speeches for best pop vocal album and female pop vocal performance, she never uttered the word "Idol." "Look, she doesn't need to thank me and she doesn't need to thank 'American Idol,"' said Cowell. "She does need to thank the fans who voted for her on 'American Idol.' That's all." On Wednesday's "Idol" episode, Cowell and fellow judges, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, chose the 24 semifinalists. Of them, Cowell said only three "have got a chance in the music industry." When asked to comment on each semifinalist by name, Cowell couldn't recall most of them. However, he could remember what he thought of every "Idol" season except the first: "predictable."
Paparazzi-plagued Britney pours heart out to People
NEW YORK -- Still smarting from the shot seen 'round the world, Britney Spears says she rarely takes her baby son, Sean Preston, outside because she fears pushy paparazzi. "I don't really go out with him," Spears told People magazine in its Feb. 27 issue. "And it's kind of sad because I can't walk down the street with a stroller. I'm not expecting people to pity me. I'm just telling the truth. " I've pulled over and asked the cops, 'Could you please help me? They've been driving recklessly back there.' And they say, 'Sorry ma'am, I can't help you. This is how it is.' I mean, Princess Diana got killed by one of these people. They're crossing the line." Last week, photos were published of Spears driving with her 4-month-old son sitting in her lap rather than strapped to a car seat in the back seat. She blamed aggressive behavior by the paparazzi, but conceded later it was a "mistake." Still, the 24-year-old pop princess said she craves the spotlight and is eager to get back onstage. Spears, who is recording an album slated for release later this year, says she thinks she can fill a "huge lull" in a dull pop scene. "It's been boring," she says. "Nothing's been wow to me." Her last album, "My Prerogative," a compilation of her greatest hits, was released in 2004.
