MEN

The Penguins shot just 23 percent from the field in the second half and were held to 22 points. That loss eliminated any chance the Penguins had of hosting a first-round game in the Horizon League tournament. Canisius has lost four of its last five games, including a 74-71 setback to Marist at home. Their only win in that stretch came against Manhattan, also at home, 86-75. YSU and Canisius have played two common opponents. The Griffins lost at St. Bonaventure, 77-55, and split two games with Siena winning at home, 67-50, and losing away, 76-55. The Penguins lost 66-58 at St. Bonaventure and 75-65 at Siena.Next up: The Penguins get back into Horizon League play Wednesday when they travel to Butler for a 7 p.m. contest. They finish up regular season play on Feb. 25 at Beeghly Center against Loyola.
WOMEN
Who: YSU (7-18, 2-11) vs. UW-Milwaukee (19-5, 11-2).When: Today, 8 p.m. Where: Klotsche Center, Milwaukee.Radio/TV: None.Coaches: Tisha Hill (23-58) is in her third season at YSU; Sandy Botham (162-115) is in her 10th season at Milwaukee.The series: Milwaukee leads 10-5, including a 64-59 victory earlier this season at the Beeghly Center. YSU has 48 turnovers in its last two contests. Godfrey has been a bright spot for the Penguins in those two games as she scored 15 and 18 points, the latter a career high. Milwaukee, which is tied with UW-Green Bay for first place in the Horizon League (and holds the edge in the tie-breaker), has won six straight, including two over Green Bay for the first time in school history. The Panthers need only to win its last two games to capture the top seed in the league tournament. Milwaukee is 9-3 at home this season.Next up: The Penguins close out the regular season Thursday against Loyola in a 7:05 p.m. tip-off at the Beeghly Center.
