Lawrence County crisis shelter schedules its annual auction



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County kicks off its 25th year with its annual auction.
The event is set for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Scottish Rite Cathedral and will feature a silent auction, live auction, 50/50 raffle, and quilt raffle with more than 500 items combined.
The auction is part of a yearlong celebration to commemorate the shelter's 25th anniversary.
Among the items raffled will be three packages of tickets to a preseason Steelers game as well as an autographed football and a commemorative rookie season football by Ben Roethlisberger, a helmet signed by running back Duce Staley and other items. Other highlights include airline tickets, four One-Day Disney Hopper passes and some furniture. There also is a one-week vacation on Sandpiper Key, Fla., up for bid.

The organization is working to meet a $250,000 challenge grant.
The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County acts as the community's response to violence and abuse, offering comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other serious crimes, along with prevention education and intervention training activities.
