Kershaw's 32 points power Liberty's romp in Brookfield



BROOKFIELD -- Ed Kershaw pumped in 32 points Friday to pace the Liberty High boys basketball team to an 82-58 victory over Brookfield.
Three other players hit double figures for Liberty (13-5, 10-2) -- Mychal Doblanski, 19 points; Ryan Gillam, 12; and Donovan Fletcher, 10.
Brookfield took a 23-19 first-quarter lead before the Leopards stormed back to outscore the Warriors, 24-12 in the second quarter.
Josh Harkulich had 27 points in a losing cause for the Warriors (5-13, 3-9).
Girard 57, Champion 55
GIRARD -- Brett Dutton scored 15 points and hit 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to help lift Girard, which outscored Champion 24-7 in the fourth quarter.
Brett Cubellis added 11 points and Sean Mostov had 10 for the Indians (3-15, 3-9), who made 20 of 24 from the line for the game.
Tyler Kish scored 18 points, Mark Jackson had 12 and Katrell Jones had 10 for the Flashes (6-11, 3-9).
Newton Falls 65, Hubbard 55
HUBBARD -- Matt Dillon's 20 points sparked the Tigers to victory.
Also reaching double figures in scoring were Nick James with 17 and Mike Pelyak with 11.
For the Eagles, Marc Kanetsky scored 17 points, Frank Rosile 12 and Corey Hitt 10.
